Kori D. Pienovi, CNM

Kori was born and raised in Portland as part of a large Italian family. She attended the University of Notre Dame in Indiana for her bachelor’s degree in anthropology, and Columbia University in New York City for her bachelor’s in nursing and master’s in nurse-midwifery. Her experience includes well-woman care, gynecology, family planning, prenatal and postpartum care and attending births in both hospital and birth center settings. Kori attends births at WHA's Midwifery Birth Center. She has more than 10 years of birth center experience, working as a team with families to provide support, information and expertise “I really love to support women and families through natural, unhindered childbirth, assisting them to greet their new babies in a peaceful and powerful manner. I believe in using the minimal intervention to help women and families to achieve a safe and satisfying birth experience, helping to support physiologic birth while keeping everyone safe, both physically and emotionally. Birth is an empowering experience for women, no matter how it unfolds. I feel called to usher women and babies through this journey.” In addition to supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, Kori’s special interests include caring for the LGBTQ community in conception, wellness and health, birth and the transition to parenthood. Kori and her wife have a daughter, and their family enjoys spending time outdoors, taking walks, playing in parks and visiting friends. They also enjoy hosting dinners with friends and family.
