Daniel Hughes, FNP, decided to become a nurse practitioner after working in acute care hospitals as a registered nurse. His experiences motivated him to want to provide more holistic care to his patients. He feels being a nurse practitioner is a natural fit for him because, "I am passionate about giving good quality, comprehensive health care to my patients," he says.
Daniel believes that spending time and listening are some of the most important tools he uses in treating patient's needs. "My philosophy of care is to be a patient advocate and to meet the needs of the individual and their family as much as I can," he says. "I truly care about my patients and try to treat people in that manner."
Daniel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Arizona State University and his Master of Science degree in Nursing from Western University of Health Sciences.
Daniel and his wife spent 12 years in Alaska before moving to the Rogue Valley. They now consider Southern Oregon home and love the people in their community. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Daniel was a registered nurse for more than 13 years. His combined experience as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner accumulates to over 27 years.
He and his wife have three grown boys. In their free time they enjoy hiking and bike riding.
