Anand S. Patel, MD

Anand S. Patel, MD_x000D_ _x000D_ Dr. Patel is the Chief of Interventional Radiology at Providence Little Company of Little Company of Marys. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania obtaining a degree in Bioengineering. He then completed his MD at Harvard Medical School, and an internal medicine internship at Beth Israel Deaconess. Dr. Patel completed his Radiology residency and Vascular & Interventional Fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco. His interests lie in interventional oncology (minimally invasive cancer treatments), women’s health, interventional pain, peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, and MRI._x000D_ _x000D_ Dr. Patel aims to stay on the forefront of medical innovations, and is currently an Assistant Visiting Professor of Radiology at UCSF. He is a former CEO/Co-Founder of an NIH/National Cancer Institute funded med device startup for safer cost-effective liver cancer treatment. Dr. Patel works with leading organizations to create new technologies. Currently, he is working to develop a novel artificial intelligence tool to improve radiology cancer detection. Dr. Patel has diverse interests in health IT, policy, and entrepreneurship with the aim of improving patient care in a cost-effective manner. He has developed rapid MRI techniques at Harvard/MIT, and at UCSF was the Coordinator for the RSNA Image Share Network - a national informatics endeavor enabling patients to share their medical images via the cloud. Dr. Patel was also the past-President of the California Radiological Society Residents/Fellows Section._x000D_ _x000D_ Having lived in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and New York, he is now happily settled in sunny Southern California. In his free time, you can find Anand and his wife Sheena spending time together traveling, golfing, hiking, kayaking, and exercising.
