Jamie Viterna, D.O., chose a career in medicine because she enjoys getting to know patients over a long period of time and helping with any questions or concerns they have about their health over the years. "I like the complexity that comes with family medicine and being able to learn about a wide variety of medical conditions and practice a whole-person approach to a patient's health care," Dr. Viterna says. In her practice, Dr. Viterna emphasizes full-spectrum care, preventive medicine and mental health care. "Ultimately, the patient is in charge of their health," she says. "I feel my responsibility is to provide them with information about treatments and lifestyle modifications to help them reach their goals." After earning her medical degree from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix, Dr. Viterna came to Oregon to complete her residency with the Providence Oregon Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Viterna was born and raised in a rural town near Cleveland. In her free time she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, running, camping, traveling and writing music.
