About Murtaza Batla

Murtaza Batla, MD, CAQSM, grew up playing a variety of sports and had his fair share of mishaps. Self-treating many of his childhood injuries paved the way for him to learn how to do so properly and help others as well.

Today as a physician specializing in sports medicine, Dr. Batla finds his greatest fulfillment in helping his patients return to their desired level of activity and remains in awe of his patients’ courage along the way. “Whether they are weekend warriors, elite athletes, or grandparents keeping up with grandkids, the joy patients express in recovery is universal,” he says.

Dr. Batla earned his medical degree from Baqai Medical University in Pakistan. He completed his internship and residency programs at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Michigan and fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Batla speaks English, Urdu and Hindi. He enjoys traveling with his wife and sampling different cuisines. He also enjoys serving his community, whether by volunteering at sporting events, helping feed the houseless or providing disaster recovery relief.
