Kathleen Castro, MSN, ACNPC-AG, SCRN is a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner at Providence Little Company of Mary, Torrance. She became an official member of the Neurosurgery service under the Pacific Neuroscience Institute group in April 2018. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care. Prior to being an advanced practice nurse, she have worked as a registered nurse in several health care settings including the ER, Neuro ICU, Telemetry, Neurosciences, Rehabilitation, Sub-Acute Care, and Skilled Nursing facilities.
Kathleen loves what she does! As a Neurosurgery NP, her role is to work alongside with her excellent team of neurosurgeons and ancillary staff in providing a top-notch neurosurgical care to their patients in the hospital, surgical, and clinic settings. She has a very unique role which enables her to have the continuity of care with her neurosurgical patients. Given this role, she is able to build a trusting provider-to-patient relationship throughout the years.
As Kathleen's unique role of Neurosurgery NP expands, her goal is to provide a top-notch neurosurgical for her patients in the hospital, surgical, and clinic settings. This would include providing individualized patient education for her specific brain and spine patient population, initiating the essential follow up care for their neurosurgical patients, and immediately responding to their patient’s concerns and questions. She will also become a certified registered nurse-first assist (RNFA), assisting the surgeons during surgery. Ultimately, her goal is to make their patients happy and thrive.
