After working as a teacher and a scientist, Ewen Harrison, M.D., was drawn to medicine. "I found that I love everything to do with the science of medicine as well as the opportunity to listen to patient stories and help them through difficult decisions," he says.
In his practice, Dr. Harrison most enjoys working one-on-one with patients and using his knowledge in combination with patient goals. "Everyone wants a doctor who listens to their concerns with an open mind," he says. "I want to be that doctor for my patients.” He also wants to make contributions to the overall health of the community. “Family medicine is the best place for me to make a positive contribution to public health."
He has special interests in male and female reproductive health, including pregnancy care. “I love the opportunity to work with pregnant women and their families: helping prepare for pregnancy, and helping women have a healthy pregnancy and delivery”. He has also done extra training in Gynecology and integrative medicine.
After earning his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Dr. Harrison completed his residency with the Providence Milwaukie Family Medicine program. Dr. Harrison was born in Miami, Fla. He has lived in California, Michigan, and New Mexico, before coming to beautiful Oregon. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, reading, juggling, cooking, canoeing, and doing anything outdoors.
