Lia is a firm believer that “Doula care enables a better birth experience for numerous families because of the emphasis of physical and emotional support provided by the Doula’s role.” During Lia’s academic years she became aware of women’s health needs after studying geography and medical anthropology. She wanted to contribute to improving women’s health, and fell in love with the Doula profession after understanding the positive impact that it causes. Since then, she has never stopped being a Doula. Lia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree as a Community Health Educator with a business minor at Portland State University and Oregon Health and Science University. At the same time, she worked toward earning her Birth Doula certification.
