Edward R Alexson, MD is a board-certified physician specializing in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine at Cancer and Blood Care Specialists. With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Alexson has a deep appreciation and understanding for the impact that a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis can create for his patients.
His medical education began in 1970 with degrees in biology and medicine at New York Medical College. He then moved to Boston University Medical Center for his both his internship and residency. He completed his fellowship and began his work as a hematologist and oncologist at the acclaimed USC-LAC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, in 1976. In the midst of his medical training, he also served as a major in the U.S. Army.
He has served as an instructor for hematology and oncology at UCI Medical Center and L.A. County USC Medical Center. He is an active member of multiple professional associations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the California Medical Association, and the Medical Oncology Association of Southern California.
He currently serves on the board of Medical Oncology Association of Southern California, and is a proud part of the St. Joseph Health’s long-standing commitment to providing quality, state-of-the-art-care for its patients at both St. Joseph Hospital in Orange.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Edward has developed a passion for the care of patients suffering from breast, prostate, and colon cancers, as well as hematologic malignancies, bleeding and clotting disorders, and myelomas.
