About Maria V. Stapfer

Dr. Stapfer attended the University of Hawaii on a 4 year full athletic scholarship where she played basketball for the university while obtaining her degree in biology. She subsequently completed her medical degree at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia where she obtained Alpha Omega Alpha status and graduated cum laude. She completed her general surgery training at USC followed by board certification by the American College of Surgeons in 2003. During her residency Dr. Stapfer managed to have two healthy children. She then completed a fellowship in hepatobiliary and pancreas surgery followed by an abdominal organ transplant fellowship at USC. Dr. Stapfer has extensive training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery having completed 5 years of training in the field including an abdominal organ transplant fellowship for liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation.
