About Daniel T. Nagasawa

Daniel Nagasawa, M.D., has achieved a reputation for excellence, receiving his residency train-ing in Neurological Surgery at UCLA, and completing a specialization fellowship in Advanced Techniques for Complex Spinal Surgery. Paramount to his management strategy is open communication, so that both he and his patients have a full understanding of the disease process and subsequent symptoms being produced; then together they can determine the best course of action to most effectively improve the patient’s quality of life. He credits love for his family as the core of his strength, and treats every patient as he would his own family.

Dr. Nagasawa’s continued interactions with his patients, helping them to overcome their difficulties, is what inspires him daily to be the best he can for them. In his specialty, he often sees people who are at their worst (brain/spine tumors, chronic debilitating pain, etc.). He considers it to be a blessing to be able to guide them through this seemingly impossible time in their lives and to see the joy on their faces when their recovery is complete.

In neurosurgery research, Dr. Nagasawa has published over fifty peer reviewed articles, two books, two chapters in other books, and multiple presentations at national conferences. He has been honored and recognized throughout his academic and medical career.

As with most physicians, his interest in medicine is simple: to help people. He has volunteered throughout the world: In Houston to aid Hurricane Katrina victims, Belize with the Red Cross, Guatemala on clean water projects, Honduras to assist in primary care clinics, and many others. Being able to provide hope to those in desperate need and assist them in improving their overall quality of life is a passion of his; one that his career as a neurosurgeon has allowed him to expand.
