As we embark on our third designation from the ANCC Magnet Designation Program®, we are excited to share all that we have accomplished along this amazing journey. Ninety years ago, when the Sisters of St. Joseph opened the first hospital in Orange County, they set in motion a legacy of caring for the most vulnerable with the utmost compassion. This legacy can be felt throughout Providence Mission Hospital.
Every time I round the units, I am inspired by the dedication and strength of our nursing team. A Providence Mission nurse is selfless, resilient, supportive, reassuring, dedicated and a team player. With incredible compassion, our nurses skillfully unite and orchestrate the expertise and talents of the various members of the clinical team.
I have always believed that one of the distinctive strengths that sets Providence Mission apart from others is our culture. Our Mission, vision and values can be felt in everything we do and they provide us an essential foundation from which to grow a sustainable Nursing Center of Excellence.
We greatly value the voice of our nurses and are proud to have such a highly-engaged team. Our caregiver engagement and patient experience scores are continuously improving and our unit-based councils and clinical excellence teams drive improved performance. We have earned many accolades: such as a spot on Modern Healthcare’s list of 150 Best Places to Work in Healthcare and the Healthgrades' 250 Best Hospitals Award, which recognizes hospitals in the top 5% in the nation for consistently delivering high-quality clinical care. We were ranked No. 1 in South Orange County from U.S. News and World Report and were also included on Newsweek’s prestigious list of World’s Best Hospitals.
Our nurses have shaped a vibrant and empowering work environment, characterized by shared decision-making, professional development, and collaboration across every level of the organization. Hundreds of Providence Mission nurses participate in shared governance councils, lead interdisciplinary improvement projects and help create industry-wide best practices.
I am extremely proud of our nursing community and it is humbling to lead this team.
