  • Learning Experiences

    Rotations are designed to allow the resident to develop the necessary skills needed to succeed in acute care practice. Rotation length may vary depending on the needs and interests of the resident.

  • Staffing Requirements

    Residents are required to participate as clinical pharmacist on 2 weekends a month in the transitions of care setting.

  • Program Goals
    • Graduated residents will be trained to be proficient in practical aspects of acute care pharmacy practice
    • Graduated residents will qualified to apply for a PGY-2 Residency or Fellowship
    • Graduated residents will be able to precept future residents and students

PLCM Torrance Campus

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance is a non-profit community hospital with 442 licensed beds. Our Centers of Excellence include our Heart Center, JCAHO accredited primary Stroke Center, Women’s and Maternal Health, and Neonatal ICU. Our nursing department is Magnet recognized and our Transition of Care Center has earned five stars by the U.S. News and World Report and is recognized amongst the nation’s top nursing homes.

Our hospital serves as part of Providence St. Joseph Health, which includes 51 hospitals across 6 different states (Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington). Within the Southern California region, we are part of a 13-hospital network dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to the community.

We are located in the South Bay Area of Southern California (20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles) near the beach cities. Plenty of activities to indulge in during down time as we are just minutes away from the Redondo Beach pier, Stub Hub Center and numerous parks with hiking trails.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be a graduate from Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program
  • Applicants must have, or obtain, a California intern license prior to starting the program
  • Residents must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the state of California

Benefits and compensation

  • Salary: Approximately $60,000
  • Benefits: Medical with dental/vision
  • Paid Time Off: 25 days
  • Travel and registration reimbursements for residency conferences and meetings
