Nearly $600,000 was netted at Celebration 2020, the St. Joseph Hospital annual fundraising gala, supported by Marsha Moeller and presented by The Gooding-Barry and Immell Families, to assist in funding a new Progressive Care Unit. The 20-bed unit will provide a higher level of care for patients who need it most—many of whom are aging and/or have multiple health issues that require specialized care.

Prioritizing the safety and well-being of donors, volunteers and caregivers led to an extraordinary celebration this year. Sponsors, including community supporters, local business leaders, physicians, nurses and the 2020 Co-Chairs Alison Gooding-Barry, Charlene Immell and Amir Ghiassi, MD celebrated their “Biggest Night In!” on Saturday, October 10 in the comfort of their own homes. Everyone enjoyed an evening of fine dining catered by 24 Carrots Catering and Food Smackdown Catering set amongst beautiful florals and tablescapes provided by EventWorks, Inc. Top sponsorships included in-home entertainment by musicians and magicians, which helped create a lively atmosphere. Guests showed their continued support by participating in the silent auction and “raise the paddle” segments of the evening. In addition, the Spirit of St. Joseph Award, honoring donors who embody the Spirit of St. Joseph, was presented via video to Curtis Kauffman and Myrna and Melvin Schwartz, MD. The highlight of the evening was supporting the Progressive Care Unit while being surrounded by close family, colleagues and friends in a safe environment.

“While the year 2020 has been one full of challenges none of us expected, the team at St. Joseph Hospital has taken that challenge head on,” said Jeremy S. Zoch, Chief Executive at St. Joseph Hospital. “This year, more than ever, we realized how critical the need is for the Progressive Care Unit, which will expand the number of patient beds at St. Joseph Hospital, allowing us to care for more patients when they need us most.” said Zoch.

St. Joseph Hospital’s Chief Philanthropy Officer, Amy Daugherty shared, “During this time of uncertainty, closures and cancelations, we found ourselves longing for some normalcy and wanted to find a way to come together; I think we accomplished that in a fun way this year. Thank you to all of the sponsors that hosted their family, friends and colleagues. Your support is truly appreciated.”
