Our Approach

Located in our Outpatient Pavilion just south of the main hospital, our pharmacy offers patients a convenient location to receive prescription medication, as well as information on medication management and treatments.

Administering medication

In order to maintain the health and safety of every individual in our hospital, patients are not permitted to administer their own medication unless approved by a physician. All medications taken while in the hospital are prescribed by a physician, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy and administered by a nurse.

Prescriptions given to you upon discharge may be filled at the pharmacy in the St. Joseph Hospital Outpatient Pavilion during business hours.

What if I have my own medication?

If this is the case, the medication supplies you brought in must be stored in their original, labeled containers and checked by the pharmacist before the drug can be administered. You will not be permitted to keep personal medication at your bedside (with certain exceptions such as inhalers with your physician’s approval). If you have questions about your medication, our pharmacists are available to speak with you. Please contact your nurse to contact your pharmacist.
