Update: Renovations are under way at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center, formerly known as Tarzana Medical Center, where an expanded health care campus will offer Valley residents the best of both high-tech and high-touch medicine. The ultramodern campus is a joint venture of Providence and Cedars-Sinai whose unique partnership was forged out of mutual commitment to the communities of the Valley. The news release below marks a step in the journey of our reimagined medical center – a compassionate presence in the Valley for nearly 50 years.
In 2019, Providence and Cedars-Sinai joined forces to embark on a critical investment for Tarzana — a $540 million redevelopment of the Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center campus, including a new patient care tower with all private rooms, an expanded Emergency Department, new diagnostic and treatment services, and enhanced outpatient and ambulatory services. Through the amazing power of philanthropy and the community’s generosity, the all-new Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center is scheduled to complete in 2022.
“This is an exciting milestone for both Providence and Cedars-Sinai as we come together to bring excellence in healthcare to the greater San Fernando Valley,” said Dale Surowitz, chief executive of Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center.
On February 10, a special celebration event was held to recognize the formal groundbreaking of the construction of the new campus and to honor the partnership between two world-class organizations: Providence and Cedars-Sinai. Many special guests were in attendance, including board members from both health systems.

After the groundbreaking ceremony, the Providence spiritual care team gave a special groundbreaking blessing, symbolic of blessing the partnership and the continued construction work. Both Providence and Cedars-Sinai are excited to move forward with the construction and development of the all-new Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center campus and bring the future of healthcare to Tarzana and the greater San Fernando Valley.
