Patient and Family Support

Providence Cancer Centers provide a broad range of coordinated, compassionate medical care and education and support services for our patients and the loved ones who care for them. Support programs and services available in a variety of convenient locations include Home Care, Palliative Care, Support Groups, and Rehabilitation Services.

Home Care

Providence Home Care provides services for all types of patients. Our goal is to provide our patients with services designed to help them remain independent in their own homes. While the program helps a variety of people, many of those served are seniors who need medical monitoring and the appropriate post surgery setup to continue with daily living activities. A care plan is developed in accordance with the patient's physician's orders and is dependent on each individual's condition. Team members may include a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech/language pathologist, social worker, wound care specialist and certified home health aide.

Palliative Care

Palliative Care supports seriously ill hospital patients from the point of diagnosis throughout the course of their illness. It is often provided concurrently with other medical treatment, including curative treatment. When facing a serious illness, quality of life often suffers. Pain, fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, stress and other cancer symptoms can make it difficult to get through each day - let alone find the strength to endure treatment - the palliative care program at Providence helps patients find relief.

Support Groups

Support Groups are an important part of treatment giving our patients a place and an opportunity to share thoughts, feelings and concerns with others who are going through a similar process. The benefits help each patient cope with their disease and treatment by decreasing anxiety and depression and decreasing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
