Providence Bridge Pedal and Stride

It is time to celebrate. Hop on your bike or lace up your walking shoes and join in the event that for 25 years has been “perfectly Portland”. This is the one opportunity each year to enjoy two of the city’s best venues: the car-free upper decks of the Marquam and Fremont bridges.

From the Sellwood Bridge to the Fremont Bridge, there are rides for cyclists of all abilities: longer rides for the more experienced bikers, a family-friendly ride over the downtown bridges and a free, 3-mile ride for the youngest cyclists.

Not a bicyclist? Join us for Providence Bridge Stride, a five-mile walk that crosses both the Marquam Bridge and Tilikum Crossing.

334,000 participants
7,222,000 miles biked
100,000 miles walked
2,572,000 bridge crossings

Celebrate! Sunday, Aug. 8

Free T-shirt - As part of the Providence Bridge Pedal 25th anniversary festivities, we are including our souvenir T-shirts at no additional charge (a $15 value) for the first 7,500 paid registrants.

Bike Jersey and Tech Shirts - Check out our new, very cool Providence Bridge Pedal bike jersey and tech shirt.

6-Bridge Challenge - To encourage younger riders to reach a bicycling milestone, once again we offer the 6-Bridge Challenge. Riders 12 years old and younger who successful bike the complete 13-mile Family Ride, including the Marquam and Fremont bridges will receive a special gift at the finish line.

More Bridges/ More Miles of Biking - Remember when Providence Bridge Pedal included all 11 of Portland’s Willamette River bridge? Circumstances way beyond our control prevent us from offering that option on all car-free roads. Learn how you can add extra miles and extra bridges to your Providence Bridge Pedal adventure.

A bike ride that supports the community - In addition to enjoying a fabulous ride through the city, a portion of your registration will support this year’s beneficiary, the Better Outcomes thru Bridges (BOB) Program that serves some of our most vulnerable patients. BOB’s goal is to empower individuals on their journey toward better well-being by engaging with compassion, dignity and integrity. Learn more »

COVID Caveats

Providence Bridge Pedal will be conducted under the state guidelines for public gatherings that are in force on August 8. At this time we do not know exactly what those guidelines will be so we will have plans in place to make adjustments to the design of this year’s event as the situation warrants.

We are modifying our registration and will call sites, downsizing our finish line activities, and adjusting the packaging of food and water offered to participants.

If COVID forces the cancellation of the event, all registrants will have the option of either transferring their registration to 2022 or receiving a full refund.

Please do your part to protect yourself and to help us make sure those restrictions are at a minimum level. Continuing wearing a mask and practice social distancing when and where appropriate and, if you have not already, get vaccinated.

If we are all diligent over the next weeks, Providence Bridge Pedal can once again be the great celebration of biking, community and Portland’s Willamette River bridges that it has been for the past quarter century.
