Providence Holy Cross Medical Center recognized as Center of Excellence for pancreatic cancer

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center has been nationally recognized as an approved Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence by the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF). NPF Center of Excellence status is awarded after a rigorous audit review to determine that an institution’s focus is on multidisciplinary treatment of pancreatic cancer, treating the “whole patient” with a focus on the best possible outcomes and an improved quality of life.

This designation is a great honor for Providence Holy Cross and represents the commitment of its teams across disciplines to providing high-quality and compassionate care to patients with pancreatic cancer. An approved NPF Center is required to meet the criteria developed by a task force made up of invited subject matter experts and patient advocates.

Criteria includes having the required expert physician specialties such as advanced gastroenterologists, pancreas surgeons, oncologic vascular surgeons, pathologists and interventional radiologists, along with highly skilled nurses. Patient-focused programs include survivorship, palliative care, psychosocial support and more. Community events facilitate awareness and provide information about available resources.
