Housing Oregon Industry Support Conference, October 4-8 (online)

Presentation: Equitable Research, Evaluation & Governance for Supportive Housing Programs

  • About: What does it look like for homelessness research and evaluation practices to be centered on racial equity and people who have lived experience with homelessness? This presentation will answer that question based on a study of the Portland-metro area’s Regional Supportive Housing Impact Fund.

American Public Health Association (APHA) 2021 Annual Meeting, October 24-27 (Denver & online)

Presentation: Investing in Upstream Determinants of Health: Community Engagement & Voter Turnout in the Building Healthy Communities Initiative

  • About: We’ll discuss the impact of investments in community engagement on voter outcomes based on findings from Building Healthy Communities (BHC), a 10-year comprehensive community initiative designed to improve health equity in 14 California communities.

Presentation: Sequelae and Health Care Utilization of Adults at 12 Months after COVID-19 Infection

  • CORE Presenters: Sarah Roth, Diana Govier

  • About: CORE will present its findings from a study of COVID-19 research focused on disparities in health care utilization outcomes in the 12-month period following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. We'll share insights and findings from this work, as well as key takeaways for public health and healthcare professionals.

Presentation: Power & Power-Building in the BHC Initiative: Evaluating Complex, Place-based Initiatives Using Mixed & Integrated Methods

  • About: CORE panelists will share methods and key findings from a “synthesis” evaluation approach for Building Healthy Communities (BHC), a 10-year comprehensive community initiative of The California Endowment (TCE) designed to improve health equity in 14 California communities. Linked presentations will cover: BHC investments in community voice and power; local and statewide policy or systems changes within and across BHC sites; the impact of targeted BHC investments on voter turnout; and the relationship between BHC funding and capacity for power building across organizational networks.
