Providence Names New Chief Executive for Inland Northwest Washington Service Area

Following an extensive search, Susan Stacey has been selected to serve as chief executive for the Providence Inland Northwest Washington service area of Providence.

Stacey currently serves as chief operating officer and chief nursing officer for Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. She brings more than 35 years of experience to this position, beginning as a registered nurse in Providence’s pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Throughout her career, Stacey has served in instrumental roles that include executive director of the children’s hospital and women’s services, director for the orthopedic service line and PICU nurse manager.

Stacey received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington State University and she holds an MBA in Health Care Management. She sits on several boards with local community and business organizations, including Partners with Families and Children and the Washington State Hospital Association.  

Peg Currie, who has held this position for five years as part of a 40-year health care career, previously announced her retirement plan, effective at the end of January. Currie will work alongside Stacey to ensure a smooth transition. Providence is grateful for Currie’s years of commitment and leadership.
