About Douglas W. Grissom
Douglas Grissom, MD, joined our family practice department in October 2015 after a summer of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. He grew up in Portland and moved away to Minnesota to attend Carleton College. He studied biology and worked for a time as a plant geneticist. He then went to medical school at the University of Minnesota on an Air Force scholarship. He worked as a flight surgeon for three years and ended up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he completed his family medicine residency.
He practiced at Altru Health System in Grand Forks and then joined his former residency as a staff physician training future rural family physicians. Ever anticipating a return to Oregon, he saw an opportunity as his children fled the nest.
When not in the office, you may see Dr. Grissom enjoying the best that the Northwest has to offer with hiking, skiing or biking.

Providence Patient
He has from day 1 led me to have confidence in him. I am pretty skeptical going in to a new doctor. But I felt he knew what he was talking about. And that was really good I appreciate that he doesn't treat me like a mental case. Most doctors already have thier own minds made up before they even meet a patient. That mindset has killed people. But that's another story.
