Dr. Underwood-Jolly graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego, Muir College with a degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology in 1991. She obtained her doctorate at the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine in 1995 and was elected to the National Honor Medical Society Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Underwood did her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center from 1995 to 1998.
