About Amy Kalra

Amy grew up in the South Bay of Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a minor in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Amy was awarded a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in San Diego, CA in 2014. Amy transitioned to hand therapy in 2015 after realizing it was a profession that allowed her to use both her science background and creative outlets. Amy moved to Portland, OR in 2017 to receive direct hand therapy mentorship. She completed thousands of hours in hand therapy to become certified in hand therapy in 2018 (CHT). Amy enjoys crafting new orthoses for her patients and inventing new techniques for her patient’s specific goals and needs. Amy enjoys working with patients of all backgrounds – sports athletes, industrial athletes, creative professionals, and office workers. She finds it rewarding to teach someone tools they can use to restore their function. Though, the greatest joy comes from watching patients successfully return to those activities without pain. In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time at the pottery, learning more about CAD (computer assisted design)/3D printing, exploring the urban jungle that is Portland, and loving her two dogs – Gizmo and Mochi.
