About Alan J. Zonno
Dr. Alan Zonno is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in both orthopedic trauma and foot and ankle surgery. With over a decade of surgical experience, Dr. Zonno brings not only technical expertise but also a warm, personalized approach to patient care. He recently relocated to Los Angeles after nearly 11 years with Rockhill Orthopaedics, a respected practice just outside of Kansas City, Missouri.
Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Dr. Zonno began his journey in healthcare by earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan. He went on to receive his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, followed by orthopedic surgery residency training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. There, he was recognized for his dedication to patient care and contributed to multiple scientific publications. He stayed on at Brown to complete a fellowship in orthopedic trauma, where he focused on treating complex fractures and high-energy injuries.
Dr. Zonno further specialized with a second fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland—a renowned center for advanced surgical techniques and innovative treatment.
Early in his career, he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where he treated a high volume of traumatic foot and ankle injuries as well as other complex foot and ankle conditions. His clinical interests include foot and ankle fracture care, Achilles and peroneal tendon repair, flatfoot reconstruction, revision bunion surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques and total ankle replacement.
What truly defines Dr. Zonno's practice, however, is his patient-first philosophy. He believes in treating each individual with empathy and respect, combining surgical skill with honest communication, shared decision-making and a genuine investment in each person’s recovery and long-term well-being.
Now part of the Providence Saint John’s community, Dr. Zonno is excited to bring his passion for orthopedic care to his new home in Los Angeles.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Zonno enjoys outdoor cycling, tennis and pickleball, reading and as he likes to say—just about anything that keeps him on his feet!
