Andrew G. Barnes, PhD

Dr. Barnes derives a tremendous sense of purpose and job satisfaction from being part of a healing team. “Getting to be involved in a patient's life, promoting wellness and empowerment, is an honor and a privilege,” he says. “And working with the amazing providers and staff at the clinic makes going to work each day a joy.”

In addition to serving as a voice and advocate for patients within our integrated care team, Dr. Barnes works with patients directly to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental, whole-person care. He collaborates with patients to create care plans that are unique to them. “All people can improve their well-being, maybe in ways they didn’t think was possible,” he says. “Learning about the mind-body connection and its importance in long-term health is vital to complete well-being.”

Dr. Barnes holds degrees from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, and from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in Bronx, NY. He completed his internship at Oregon State University and his residency at Northwest Occupational Medicine Center in Beaverton. He has special training in pain management and trauma care.

On a personal note, adds Dr. Barnes, “I am a staunch advocate of equality, inclusivity and multiculturalism. Great health care can’t be achieved without recognizing and adopting these tenets of humanity. My beliefs formed over the years through world travel, formal education, and working with a large and diverse group of patients who have been some of my greatest teachers.”
