I need a different pulmonologist. For one thing, Dr. Schiffman was unable to explain why I needed to keep my C-Pap mask on when I go to the bathroom, even if it means having to bring in an attached 6-foot air hose. Also, I had to discover for myself that there was a mask setting on my C-Pap machine called "nasal." No one had ever mentioned this before. But apparently it enables my machine accurately to record the time I spend using it. The lack of that Information had been a problem for many years. I have been taking a low dose of Xanex every night for many years, as a sleeping aide. Even though, I am now 88 and have no life-threatening problems, Dr. Schiffman thinks that that I need to stop Xanex as soon as possible and Insists on my following a complicated procedure to give It up. Finally, his summary of my visit twice refers to me as having experienced "cognitive decline."
