Dr. Robert L. Portillo is board certified to perform foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He has been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery in the Los Angeles area and founded the Westside Foot & Ankle Center in Santa Monica in 1983.
He is respected by his peers for his ability to diagnose and treat difficult and complex lower extremity foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Portillo offers the highest level of comprehensive foot care, and sees patients of all ages from infants to seniors, as well as professional and non-professional athletes. He specializes in all phases of medical, diabetic and surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle care, including reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic and arthritic foot management, geriatric and pediatric foot and ankle care, trauma and sports medicine.
Dr. Portillo earned his doctorate (D.P.M.) degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-med from Loyola University in Los Angeles. Keeping abreast of the latest treatments for foot and ankle health is very important to Dr. Portillo. He continually refines his podiatric expertise by attending several educational conferences and seminars annually, offering his patients the newest and most technologically advanced procedures and treatments available. Some of these procedures include ankle arthroscopy, rear foot and ankle reconstruction, diagnostic ultrasound and Cryosurgery.

He resides in Los Angeles and is a proud husband, father and grandfather. He enjoys swimming and walking, and is an avid snow skier (especially when he can make first tracks)! Dr. Portillo's
other hobbies include woodworking and cooking, and he frequently "whistles a happy tune" on his harmonica as he passionately continues to study this area of music.
