Dr. Donald Dibbern attended college at Harvard, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology magna cum laude. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and received his M. D. in 1996. During medical school, he traveled to Scotland for additional training in Geriatrics at the University of Edinburgh School of Medicine. He was also later selected as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute—National Institutes of Health Research Scholar and studied at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for one year. This research led to several publications, including articles in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Neuroscience. After completing medical school, his training in Internal Medicine was on the Osler Medical Service at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. His fellowship training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology was received in Denver, at the University of Colorado UCHSC - NJMRC joint program. Dr. Dibbern moved to the Portland area in 2001 and joined the Allergy Clinic in the private practice of allergy. He has also served on the faculty of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Oregon Health and Sciences University as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine and Dermatology. While at OHSU, he founded and directed the Multidisciplinary Urticaria Clinic and managed the Doernbecher Pediatric Allergy Clinic. Dr. Dibbern is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, where he serves on the section for food allergy and dermatology (FADDA). He was elected as a Fellow of the Academy in 2005. He has written and lectured on several areas in the field of allergy, notable urticaria (hives) and other allergic skin conditions, food allergies, and allergic rhinosinusitis (hayfever). He is regularly interviewed by local newspaper and television news reporters on medical topics, such as hayfever and allergies.
