Steven Vasilev, M.D., is the only quadruple board certified integrative gynecologic oncologist in the country: gynecology, gynecologic oncology, and two certifications in natural holistic integrative health. He believes that combining state-of-the-art cancer treatment with integrative natural support for your body and mind leads to the best quality of life and survivorship longevity.
As a pioneer in minimally invasive cancer surgery, he uses robotically assisted surgery for gynecologic cancers whenever possible for the swiftest recovery.
His research focuses on the developing role of genomics in creating gentler, more effective treatments to replace chemotherapy, and on how nutritional and lifestyle modifications can prevent cancer and its recurrence.
Dr. Vasilev has published many research articles, book chapters, a textbook on perioperative patient care and a best-seller on the science and truth behind integrative oncology.
The word “doctor,” derived from Latin “docere”, means “to teach.” Dr. Vasilev believes that today’s doctors are healers, but must also guide you to health as teachers. He has taught more than 200 residents and fellows emphasizing this philosophy as Director of Gynecologic Oncology at City of Hope, faculty at UC Irvine, and as Professor at USC and UCLA.
