About Sirisha Perugu

Sirisha Perugu, MD, is board certified in general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. She completed her residency training at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. She served her fellowship in Neonatology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, California and CHOC Children’s, Orange, California. She attended medical school at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, India.

Dr. Perugu’s clinical interest is neonatal cardiovascular physiology and palliative care. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She has a strong commitment to excellence. Her favorite aspect of the physician-patient relationship is being an advocate for the patient’s best interest and supporting families.

Dr. Perugu is passionate about taking care of infants with complex illnesses and their families. She has been instrumental in bringing CHOC’s supportive care program to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and other areas of the hospital. “I am privileged to help your family and hope that we can support your vision of dignified and thoughtful care,” she says. Families can also call on Dr. Perugu if a baby has been diagnosed with a serious condition during prenatal testing. “Prenatal counseling is a precious first step in every family’s journey and we will partner every time your family needs help with plans and communication,” she says.

Dr. Perugu has undergone specialized training in Palliative Care Education and Practice (PCEP) at Harvard Medical School and Education on Palliative and End-of-life Care (EPEC). She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Sections on Bioethics, Section on Perinatal Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Care. She has a special interest in quality improvement in palliative care. “Our team is committed to family-centered care and collaborates with every other medical professional taking care of your child,” Dr. Perugu says.
