About Andrew J. Kokkino

Dr. Andrew Kokkino practices all aspects of neurosurgery and specializes in the treatment of brain and spinal tumors. Patients benefit from the latest technologic advances in surgical neuro-oncology, such as frameless image-guidance, intraoperative ultrasound, intracavitary chemotherapy, Gamma knife radiosurgery, and interstitial brachytherapy. Dr. Kokkino graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago in 1992 and completed a surgical internship at the University of Cincinnati Medical School. He fulfilled a neurosurgical residency, followed by chief residency at the University of Cincinnati-Mayfield Clinic program. During his residency, he completed an American Cancer Society fellowship in neuro-oncology. After his chief residency, he finished a clinical fellowship in surgical neuro-oncology. In 1999, he was an assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, where he focused on treatment of brain tumors. He joined Oregon Neurosurgery in 2000 and continues to develop minimally-invasive techniques in spinal surgery. Dr. Kokkino was drawn to neurosurgery because of its complexity and found that his empathetic nature was a natural fit in caring for patients. In his free time, he appreciates time spent with family, traveling and outdoor activities.
