Dr. James sought out a position as a faculty physician instructing residents because she loves to teach. She also loves to connect with her patients as she helps them improve their health. "I enjoy being able to care for the whole person rather than focusing on one disease or one area," she says. "I enjoy the challenge of it being such a broad field as it pushes me to constantly learn and improve." She emphasizes preventive care and chronic disease management while helping her patients find balance in their lives. "I try to minimize testing and medications when they are not clearly necessary," she says. "I work with patients to explore options that will work best for them." Dr. James is a board-certified physician with a specialty in internal medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at Providence Portland Medical Center. When she's not working, Dr. James enjoys outdoor activities. She also has twins and they keep her on her toes.
