"Originally from northern Virginia, I attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and earned my medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond," says Dr. Edward Bieniek. "After completing medical school, I started my journey west. I completed my surgical residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and then spent 11 years in general surgery practice in Santa Fe. Although my family and I loved the weather and mountains in New Mexico, we decided to relocate to be closer to our family here in Portland. Here, we can still enjoy the outdoors, but also have access to great schools and a thriving city." "Working in general surgery, no two days are the same. My practice includes surgery of the colon, breast, abdominal cavity and hernias, as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. It has been an incredibly rewarding career - I have the privilege of being with patients from their diagnosis through completion of their therapy, which allows me to get to know each patient very well. I am looking forward to enjoying all of Oregon's seasons. In my free time, I like to ski, snowboard, kitesurf and mountain bike."
