Allison O'Meara, FNP

Finding a meaningful way to help others led me to practicing medicine. After graduating college with a Business and Sociology degree, I decided to pursue nursing following a formative and inspiring job at a cancer research center. My interest in cardiology was piqued after multiple family members were diagnosed with cardiac conditions. I was so curious how the heart functions, and I've been fascinated ever since. After working as a registered nurse in the hospital setting for six years, I decided I wanted to focus more on the outpatient arena and on preventative care. I returned to school to obtain my FNP degree. I feel the most important role I have is to educate patients to the best of my ability, to promote both understanding of their diagnosis and self-management. I grew up in Maryland where most of my family still lives. I miss them dearly but have always felt drawn to the Pacific Northwest and absolutely love it here. My husband, dog and I moved here 5 years ago and have reveled in the beautiful natural surroundings since. I love to hike, ski and am one of those yahoos that enjoys jumping in frigid water. I also have a weakness for sports, coffee and live music.
