About Christopher T. Brewer
Dr. Brewer grew up in rural Tennessee. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He also earned a PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, and Biochemistry at The University of Tennessee Health and Science Center while studying in the Chemical Biology Laboratory and High Throughput Screening Center of Taosheng Chen at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He completed his medical internship at the University of Chicago North Shore and his Neurology residency at the University of Chicago. He also completed a fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and Cedars Sinai. Dr. Brewer’s clinical interests include nerve diseases or neuropathies (including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy(CIDP), actute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP but also called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)), nerve compression/entrapments/radiculopahties), muscle diseases (such as myopathies, muscular dystrophies, myositis), neuromuscular junction disorders (such as myasthenia gravis), and autonomic disorders.
