About Stavros N. Moysidis

Stavros Moysidis, MD, received his vitreoretinal surgery training at Associated Retinal Consultants / Beaumont, where he also had the privilege of taking care of premature infants, children, and patients with ocular tumors.

His clinical and research interests are diverse, and include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, trauma, retinopathy of prematurity, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, persistent fetal vasculature, and choroidal melanoma.

Dr. Moysidis received his ophthalmology training at the LAC+USC Medical Center, USC Roski Eye Institute, and CHLA, and his medical education at the University of Miami. There, at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, he developed a novel, minimally invasive, nanoparticle-based, cell delivery system for the magnetic transplantation of human tissue, which is now in clinical trials.

Dr. Moysidis has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship, the Heed Fellowship, the Dr. Alving Endowed Biomedical Research Award, and the Lombardi Scholarship. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters in internationally esteemed journals, including PNAS, Nanomedicine, Ophthalmology, Retina, and IOVS.
