A high school medical condition proved life-changing for Sarah Hopkins, MD, and inspired her to enter the field of medicine. "I was fortunate to be surrounded by health care professionals who empowered me in the medical decisions and recovery that I faced," she says. "I was drawn to endocrinology because it combines my love of working with people of all ages and backgrounds with my interest in the intricate balance of human hormones."
After earning her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Hopkins completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital Icahn School of Medicine. She also completed an endocrinology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Hopkins is board certified in internal medicine.
Born and raised in Portland, Dr. Hopkins moved away for most of her higher education before returning for her fellowship. In her free time, Dr. Hopkins enjoys traveling, learning other languages and spending time with her husband and son.
