Alexander H. Smith, PsyD

Witnessing the struggles of several friends and family members in his youth made an early and lasting impression on Dr. Smith. “I knew I wanted to be in a position, someday, to help others through similar challenges,” he says. Today, this is his life’s work. As a board-certified psychologist, he partners with people “to help them live their best lives.”

Dr. Smith has specialized training in pediatrics, gender-affirming care, ADHD and behavioral disorders. While he is especially passionate about working with children and adolescents, he welcomes patients of all ages and from all walks of life. His patient-centered, evidence-based approach draws on a wide variety of therapeutic techniques, from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to acceptance and commitment-based therapy (ACT). “I’m here to listen to each patient’s goals,” he says, “and to collaborate on a treatment plan that honors and addresses them.”

A graduate of the University of California, Davis, Dr. Smith earned his doctorate at the Pacific University School of Professional Psychology in Hillsboro. He completed his internship at Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health in Canton, Ohio, and his residency at Strong Integrated Behavioral Health in Eugene.

Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games and board games, hiking, and discovering new places to eat.
