Our freestanding ERs provide private, personalized emergency care with dedicated lab and imaging services, shorter wait times and direct access to Covenant Medical Center when additional care is needed. Backed by Lubbock's only Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level II Trauma Center, we're here when you need us most.
Emergency rooms are for serious or life-threatening emergencies. Go to the ER or call 911 for:

Please note: Emergency rooms are set up to focus on emergencies, not routine health care. Patients are seen based on the severity of their illness, symptoms or injuries - not on a first-come, first-served basis - so wait times may vary. If you visit the ER for a condition that is not an emergency, it may take longer to be seen and treated, and care will likely cost more than a visit to a doctor's office or walk-in clinic. It is important to be clear and specific when describing your illness or injury to help us provide the best possible care as quickly as possible.
Freestanding ER Frequently Asked Questions
Covenant’s freestanding ER provides the same quality emergency care as Covenant’s hospital-based emergency department, but its operations are slightly different. The facility is specially designed for your privacy, comfort and convenience. It has dedicated equipment, lab and imaging services that do not have to be shared, as they would in a hospital-based facility.
Because the staff is cross trained in multiple disciplines, they are able to work as a unified team and focus on providing quick, responsive treatment, drastically reducing wait times.
If a patient needs surgery or hospitalization, Covenant's freestanding ER will transfer patients to the hospital. Ambulance fees may apply.
Our freestanding ER is staffed by board-certified physicians and is fully equipped to treat life-threatening illnesses. Urgent Care offers care for non-life-threatening conditions, similar to a primary care clinic.
Our freestanding ER teams are specially trained in multiple disciplines, allowing them to provide a continuum of care to their patients. They are part of a unified care team, focused on providing responsive treatment.
