Socially Responsible Sourcing
Supplier Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (SDEI)
Providence is committed to providing opportunities to a diverse supplier population; including, local and disadvantaged businesses, women and minority-owned businesses, veteran-owned businesses, LGBT businesses and small businesses located in historically underutilized business zones. Our vision of “Health for a Better World” includes impacting the economic growth and development in the local communities where we serve.
All prospective diverse suppliers are required to register and complete the Providence supplier evaluation and onboarding process. Registration includes providing the company’s basic business information and uploading certification documents to validate the diverse ownership of the business entity.
Participate in our Tier II Program and Reporting
The Tier II subcontracting program is a component of the supplier diversity, equity & inclusion strategy that ensures diverse businesses are afforded the opportunity to do business with us as a subcontractor to our principal suppliers and prime contractors. Our Tier II Program was created to ensure that we maximize contract opportunities for diverse suppliers that provide products or services to our Prime suppliers. Prime suppliers are encouraged to adopt Providence’s commitment to supplier diversity, equity & inclusion.
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing
At Providence, we hold ourselves accountable to do the right things for the right reasons. Recognizing the link between environmental health and public health, we are committed to fiscally responsible environment protection practices to benefit the health and quality of life of our patients, staff and communities. We evaluate our supply chain to identify opportunities where we have the greatest impact to reduce harmful chemicals, waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
Providence caregivers are passionate about the health of our people and our planet. We evaluate our operations and practices continuously to conserve energy and reduce waste. For 15 years, Providence ministries have been members of Practice Greenhealth - a national member organization dedicated to reducing the impact of health care organizations and hospitals on the environment. Multiple Providence ministries have been recognized with Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence Awards. This success is dependent in part on supply chain relations and practices that identify, measure, and reduce pollution and harm to the natural environment, our common home.
