Danny Shouhed, MD

Danny Shouhed, MD, is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in robotic bariatric, gastrointestinal and general surgery. A leader in his field for more than a decade, Dr. Shouhed is in expert at performing minimally invasive procedures, which rely on cutting-edge technologies to reduce patients’ risks and accelerate their recovery times.

Dr. Shouhed’s reputation for excellence began in high school and continued throughout his academic career and medical practice. Throughout his career, he earned several accolades for his achievements and recognition for his medical knowledge. In 2021, Dr. Shouhed joined Saint John’s Health Center as the founding medical director of the Bariatric Surgery and Metabolic Weight Loss Center, a surgical and non-surgical weight loss program tailored to each patient’s personal health, goals and preferences. The holistic center relies on Dr. Shouhed’s pioneering techniques and robotic surgery expertise to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Dr. Shouhed truly believes every patient is an extension of his own family. The success and health of his patients is more important to him than anything else. His compassion, along with his detailed approach and continuous determination, have resulted in the best outcomes for his patients after each procedure and surgery. Many of Dr. Shouhed’s patients come to him for corrective surgery or complex operations that are too challenging for others to undertake. His vast experience taking care of complicated cases helped him provide a perfect outcome the first time around.

In addition to his technical expertise, Dr. Shouhed is an advocate for patient education, which he believes is one of the most important parts of each patient visit. He dedicates much of his time to explaining each patient’s condition and treatment options. This personalized approach caused many patients to identify Dr. Shouhed as a close friend and confidant. His patients love him for his honesty, as he only operates on patients he believes he can help and will be the first to tell a patient if surgery is not the right approach. He is passionate about what he does and considers it a privilege to care for each of his patients.

Those who know Dr. Shouhed also know that he enjoys nothing more than spending time with his family. Whether it’s a trip to the beach or exploring a new restaurant, Dr. Shouhed and his wife love being out with their daughter, Remi. Outside of spending time with family, Dr. Shouhed loves playing soccer, basketball and other sports, as well as going to the gym. He is an avid traveler who loves exploring new countries and immersing himself with natives and learning about their cultures. He has lived abroad in both France and Spain and visited over 60 other countries.
