About Aaron B. Schoenkerman
Aaron Schoenkerman, M.D., was inspired to pursue a medical degree in the field of cardiology so that he could “treat people in a variety of ways at all stages of life” by using “everyday physiologic principles to improve lives within our communities.” He values the long-standing history the cardiovascular field has played in evidence-based medicine as it has shaped the approach to his own medical practice.
Dr. Schoenkerman earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He served his internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco with his fellowship in cardiology at Sutter Health in San Francisco and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Wisconsin. Prior to embarking on his medical career studies, his undergraduate work was completed at Washington University in St. Louis, MO earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Near Eastern Studies. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. His practice scope includes vascular medicine, atherosclerosis assessment, lipid management, and cardiovascular preventive medicine.
When not practicing medicine, he enjoys visiting Central Oregon and all areas of the Willamette Valley with his family. His personal hobbies include bicycling, nonfiction reading, golf, all types of exercise, and watching sporting events.

I was very pleased with my appointment with Dr Schoenkerman. He was familiar with my health situation. He listened to me and answered my questions.
Providence Patient
Physician was EXCELLENT from beginning to end, as were the front desk staff. Nurse, prior to seeing doctor, was - IMHO - somewhat impersonal. Further, check of vital signs - I found - less than effectively performed.

Dr, Schoenkerman is very honest and straightforward, very direct and I like and appreciate that. He's also very thoughtful and caring.

I received all the information I needed for this visit and was provided with prescription medication to start treatment.

The doctor did not know important information about my medical history, even though I waited four months to be seen, and despite him having access to all of my up to date records. He spoke to me in a way that was both demeaning and disrespectful (correcting things I told him about my diagnoses, even though I know a great deal about these / work with a specialist, and despite the fact that it was clear he knew very little about these conditions). He talked over me, interrupted me, and dismissed a number of the questions I came thoughtfully prepared to ask him. I entered this appointment eager, and positive. Excited, even. I left feeling disrespected, unheard, and with no clear path forward regarding my medical concerns. I actually cried in the car when I left because he made me feel so bad. What a terrible experience. It's the worse interaction I've had with a medical professional in a very long time. He could Improve a great deal simply by listening to patients, and learning from them.
