About Marek A. Martynowicz
Dr. Marek Martynowicz was born, raised, and educated in Poland. After graduating from the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice, Poland, Dr. Martynowicz came to the United States to complete a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Samuel Stratton Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and the Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. After completing a three year fellowship, he entered the medical residency training program at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York (an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons). At Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital Dr. Martynowicz served as the chief resident. He went on to complete fellowships in both pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which included two years in a research laboratory dealing with the pathophysiology of adult respiratory distress syndrome. His research activities during residency and fellowship training bore fruit in multiple publications in peer reviewed journals. Upon completion of medical training Dr. Martynowicz moved to Houston, Texas, where he was the attending physician and clinical assistant professor of Baylor College of Medicine. In 2009, Dr. Martyowicz moved to Alaska to continue his clinical practice with Providence Alaska Medical Center, joining Internal Medicine Associates in August of 2014. His special medical expertise is in management of interstitial lung diseases and special bronchoscopic techniques. In 2011, he also obtained board certification in sleep medicine. Dr. Martynowicz and his wife Melody have four children: Magdalena, Tadeusz, Natalia and Bohdan. He enjoys history, travel, hunting, and the great Alaskan outdoors
