About Joseph E. Zikry
Dr. Zikry is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He is a native of Los Angeles and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California, where he was awarded a full-academic scholarship and graduated with the highest honors, Summa Cum Laude. He went on to attend the University of California, Irvine for medical school, where he excelled academically and was admitted into the most prestigious medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. After medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Finally, he returned to the University of Southern California to complete his residency in Dermatology, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Throughout his residency, he had the opportunity to train at a number of highly recognized hospitals including the Los Angeles County Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the USC/Keck Academic Center.
Dr. Zikry takes pride in providing empathetic, patient-centered care to help patients make well informed decisions that align with their treatment goals. Skin conditions can often be socially stigmatizing and Dr. Zikry’s ultimate goal is to help every patient fee comfortable in their own skin. Most of all, he treats all his patients like family.
Dr. Zikry stays up to date with the newest medical and surgical advancements in the field of dermatology and utilizes evidence-based medicine when treating his patients. He has published numerous research articles in leading medical dermatologic journals including the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

First visit to this doctor for a full body skin cancer exam at the recommendation of my primary care physician. Was able to schedule the checkup within 2 weeks of initial contact which is a good response for a new patient inquiring about non urgent care. Found Dr. Zirky to be knowledgeable and personable. Throughout the exam he explained the nature of different moles, pointed to the one precancerous one he recommended removing, advised on ongoing preventative care, and also addressed how to treat a potential scar after a recent injury. Overall I was impressed with him as a provider and would not hesitate to return or to recommend him to those I know.

I did not receive adequate post-instructions on how to use the medicine prescribed; it wasn't noted in the aftercare summary. It required me to send a message to ask how to use the medicine. Honestly, I don't remember any of the recommendations or solutions. No links or literature provided as to the recommended treatment. But for the great encounter with the front-desk staff, this was one of the worst provider encounters. I expected more.
