About Karen A. Frankwich
Dr. Frankwich graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biology from University of California, Los Angeles in 2004.
Dr. Frankwich continued with her medical education at the University of California, San Diego and completed her internal medicine residency at UCSD Medical Center. Prior to pursuing a fellowship in endocrinology, she became a volunteer assistant professor at UCSD while practicing hospital medicine at the VA San Diego Medical Center. She earned a teaching award for her services as an educator for UCSD medical students.
Dr. Frankwich practices general endocrinology and is dedicated to maintaining the health and well-being of her patients. She has interest in thyroid disease, bone disease, diabetes management, and pituitary disease.

Everything went very well. The receptionist was extremely kind and patient with scheduling all the follow-up appointments. The doctor very kind in explaining what we need to do going forward. My last survey wasn't the greatest as far as my experience and care I was receiving. I personally have been with Dr Frankwich for at least a decade. In that time, I've been diagnosed and treated for a fairly rare autoimmune disease. Her and I have had our fair share of conversations. I will say that when I first met Dr Frankwich she was newer to mission and I appreciated her thoughtfulness, ability to think outside the box, ease of referrals, time spent with me, and her overall demeanor. As time progressed, through likely no fault of her own, we ran into issues. Hence my last survey. I refuse to go in person to her office unless I have to because it's so packed, the front office staff is less than pleasant, even the patients are rude! I'd sit there, often feeling unwell and would wait eternity to be seen. Dr Frankwich was always running late and seemed rushed. I began questioning my care. I'd often feel as if there was only one answer to everything and that was another medication. All of this to say that, as a healthcare professional myself and one that previously worked for mission for 17 years I know how difficult it is to provide care at such a busy place. To me, it no longer was about patients but numbers. Money and how many patients we could cram into a single day. My last visit with Dr Frankwich was much better. She seemed happier and less stressed. It was like talking to my old doctor when I first met her. I hope this continues in the future as I have considered switching practices due to the above mentioned concerns. And again, this is not a poor survey about Dr F. It's the entire office, organization and how you all are choosing to provide patient care.
