Getting the initial appointment for the emerging situation did take a few months, but all follow up appointments were timely and seamless. The doctor was easy to talk to and logically took the necessary steps to check out the problem. This last appointment was follow-up to verify last years results to make sure there were not any changes to my condition. Dr Nakai is easy to work with.

I gave a 10 out of ten even tho this survey seem to be for a pcp rather than a specialist, which dr nakai is. He is quite literally the first endocrinologist I've visited since the 80s that I have liked. He is both top notch and a great provider. I almost find it insulting if you're not already aware of that. I've been with dr nakai longer than he's been with providence. I would literally follow him to kaiser, even tho I absolutely have no desire to do so.

Dr. Nakai is the best doctor I have ever had!

I thought Dr. Nakai did a really good job of explaining the problem at hand, why he was ordering the test that he ordered and what the results would indicate. He took the time to diagram out the feedback loop for calcium homeostasis and provided me with some printed materials about sources of calcium, how to calculate what I need on a daily basis, etc. He also did a directed physical exam which I appreciated and which seems to be going the way of the dodo with many physicians. As a retired physician, I felt that the care he provided was excellent. I also appreciated that he treated me respectfully as a retired colleague but did not assume that I knew everything there was to know about endocrinology and therefore did not have to explain things. He stated that he did not remember much about Dermatology (my specialty) and didn't expect, therefore, that I remembered much about Endocrinology, which was the appropriate approach to take. I feel fortunate in having seen him.
