Really like Dr Akmal. She is thorough and explains things to me...always answers all my questions or concerns.

Dr. Akmal was prompt and thorough, taking time to discuss my history of thyroid cancer. I never felt like she couldn't wait to get me out of the office and on to her next patient. The only snag was having to reschedule twice. I was offered the option of a video exam, which I declined as I believed that would not be as thorough as a more personal one. I'm sure she had to reschedule my appointments due to circumstances beyond her control. This is certainly understandable. I also received my blood test results and email responses to her office quickly. I was very pleased with her and the overall experience at Providence.

Dr. Akmal has been my endocrinologist for the past 6 years. Akmal is sweet, kind, professional, and compassionate. She is awesome!Also, the lab tech that did my bloodwork was amazing as well. Very sweet and personable. Usually, it takes 2 or 3 pokes for a successful blood draw. She did it in 1 poke which was a total relief for me.Thank you for such great service!

I feel like she made an effort to be personable. She listened to me talk and I felt like she did a better job this time of giving medical advice that pertained to my thyroid nodules. (Last time I felt a bit like it was up to me to be my own doctor after a crash course of basics.) She ordered necessary tests and helped me feel good about a plan, moving forward. I did have to ask what my diagnosis is, related to a positive antibody test last year. I was told in an email that the antibodies were present, that they indicate autoimmune disorder, and I was offered medication to try. Follow-up labs were ordered. However, I was never told an actual diagnosis. I was able to ask for that at this last visit, and was told that the diagnosis is Hashimotos. I haven't been offered much information about that, however, and have had to turn to Google. I think Dr. Akmal is pleasant and she seems very knowledgeable, though my visits haven't seemed to be an overly personal experience. I feel more information could be offered, especially regarding a diagnosis such as Hashimotos. "Here's what that means for you. Here are some suggestions...".
