About Wilma J. Obando
A physician assistant since 2009, Wilma enjoys supporting, encouraging, and connecting with her patients and fellow health care providers. “My aim is to be present with the patient before me, to listen well, to provide the best possible care, and to support the patient’s primary care provider in these shared goals,” she says.
Wilma treats each patient as a whole person, taking into account the many factors that affect an individual’s physical and mental health, from genetic makeup to life circumstances and choices. “Each person’s health belongs to them,” she says, “and I’m here to help. I love getting to know my patients over time, helping them overcome illnesses and challenges, and watching them make strides in their health and personal growth.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., Wilma completed her medical training in the Oregon Health & Science University Physician Assistant Program. Volunteering on medical trips to Haiti and Guatemala has helped broaden her experience and perspective.
An Oregon native, Wilma grew up in the southwestern part of the state and migrated northward to Hillsboro, where she has lived for many years. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and with her church community. Some favorite activities include kayaking, hiking and camping year-round.
