About Phebe L. Matsen
Phebe Matsen, MD, always knew she wanted to work with people and, as a family physician, loves connecting with patients and their families. “My most important role is to translate the language of science and medicine to improve people’s lives,” she says. “I also enjoy the diversity of family medicine. Whether I’m treating kids, adults, the elderly, or pregnant women, I welcome the chance to collaborate with them to help keep them healthy.”
In her practice, Dr. Matsen sees herself as a guide and navigator for her patients. “It’s very important to listen to their wishes and understand the paths they choose on their health care journeys,” she says. “I strive to meet patients where they are, while giving my advice on healthy steps they can take to meet their goals.” She has special interests in women’s health, maternal care, and addiction medicine.
Dr. Matsen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and completed her medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University. She finished her residency training with Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which, she adds, “was near the farm where I grew up in Amish Country.”
When not at work, Dr. Matsen enjoys enjoy being outdoors, gardening and travel. A language enthusiast, she has studied Nepali and speaks Spanish in addition to English.

Doctor Matsen was condescending, did not look over my medical records appropriately prior to our visit, did not seem to care to hear or address my concerns and at one point asked me to tell her how she should do her job. Leaving me with zero faith in putting my health in her care.

Dr. Phebe Matsen has always been so good at listening to my needs and really seeing me as a whole person, not just numbers. I happen to have a lot of mental health needs and she has always been helpful in both managing my medication for depression and anxiety but she was also the one who sorta saved me by getting me fast care with a therapist when my life fell apart a couple years ago. She makes me feel seen and listened to. I am very Grateful to be able to see her. That being said, when I needed to see others in the clinic, I have always been treated well and felt comfortable with all of the staff and providers.
